Smart Home
Back when I was 13 (in the 8th grade), for a school science fair, I made a home automation model. This was a model of a smart home with an automatic garage door, lights, and fans, all of which could be controlled by an app. It also included a motion sensor-controlled light and a password-protected gate. Out of these, only the app control and motion sensor-controlled light worked during the demo. But what was really cool was that I also had soil moisture sensors, which displayed the readings in the app. Plus, there was a water tank level sensor and a motor pump connected to the system, and I could see the water level readings on the app. I even programmed it so I could automate switching the motor on or off depending on the water level in the tank.
Here are photos of me at the exhibition booth.
(ik i looked pretty different)
Technical details for the interested- I used Blynk Framework on nodemcu and the Blynk app for the software part. for hardware i used couple of relays to control lights and fans , PIR Motion sensor, BO motor for the Garage door, for password gate , i did not have enough time but i had a 4x4 Matrix keypad which i just stuck on wall.
(i had thought of lots of things back then)
i was quite novice back then, i prefixed everything with smart 😅
There was quite a lot of arts and crafts work which my family helped me with.
Overall , It was a great learning experience.
